Children and Youth Ministries at Nativity

Welcome to Children’s Ministries at Nativity!

God has a special love for the youngest among us, and calls us to treasure, care for and teach them.  At Nativity, we strive to build a safe, loving, thoughtful place for children to grow in faith and community.

Here’s how your child can connect…

Sunday Mornings

Vivace Children’s Chapel  (Ages 4-10)

10:00AM – Vivace Children’s Chapel

This occurs during the 10:00 Family Church Service and is a lively, musical spin on traditional children’s chapel!

This unique gathering allows children to connect with the meaning of the liturgy and the beautiful traditions of the Episcopal Church.  Children join their families in church for communion.

Sunday School  (Ages 4 through 5th grade)

At Nativity Sunday School we use the Sparkhouse Lectionary Curriculum to explore the stories of our faith, following along with the lessons and seasons of the church.  Each child receives his or her own Story Bible to mark in, put stickers in, and make their own. With a wonderful team of caring adults, this is a highlight of our children’s ministries!

Youth Group  (Ages 6-12)

God has a special love for the students in our community as they enter the most important decision-making period of their lives.

We want God to enrich their lives with strength, love, and encouragement.

During the school year, students in grades 6-12 are invited to Youth Group from 11:00AM-12:15PM every Sunday morning!  We have games, food, meaningful conversation, time to catch up, and service projects throughout the year.

In the summer, high school students serve on mission trips, giving their time to serve communities in need and grow in their call to love God and love others.  Also! Weeks at Chapel Rock (the Arizona Diocese Episcopal summer camp) are a must.

Nursery Care  (Ages 0-3)

Loving, professional caregivers provide safe activities for our youngest children, including stories, music and fun. Nursery is not just for child care but the first experience for many children in church. We provide an atmosphere where children learn that church is a safe place where they can meet God.

Acoloytes, Lectors and Chalicists

Acolytes are important members of our worship team, assisting Pastor Gary, the worship leaders and the congregation as we praise and serve God in worship. Nativity’s Altar servers ministry is available for all young people in 3rd grade and above. Acolytes serve during the worship service as Crucifers (who carry the cross), torch bearers (who light the candles), and assist during the Gospel, the offering and Communion. Lectors read the scripture lessons, and chalicists serve the chalice of wine at communion. Serving as an altar server is a fulfilling way to worship and connect with God on a personal level. Become a part of the Nativity Worship Team!  For more information about being on the team, please contact the Associate Rector, Dr. Wayne.
