A Message from Father Scot

During Lent, some people give up something in order to focus more on God. In 2020, we gave up a lot! To many of us, 2020 felt like 10 months of Lent. So we don’t need to be hard on ourselves this Lent. Many are still recovering from 2020.

Instead, perhaps think about taking on something, such as more time in prayer, or reading the Bible more than you normally would, or perhaps think about joining my Wednesday morning Book Group at 10:30 as we study Ethics.

Perhaps you might read a spiritual book or begin your day with an online spiritual reflection such as the following from Episcopal Relief and Development:

Or the following from Forward Movement Press:

Whatever you choose, even if it’s giving up meat on Fridays, let’s relax a bit this year and enjoy 2021 for what it is, a new year where God can continue to do wonders if we only “tune in” a bit more to God’s Spirit speaking to us.

And finally, remember to laugh, even during Lent. It often is the “best medicine.”

I hope and pray that each of you has a holy Lent.

Faithfully in Christ,
The Reverend Scot McComas
Rector
